WMW is a patent law firm with a long-standing family tradition, based in Velbert-Langenberg.

In 1951, Ernst E. Weisse ^† founded the firm “Weisse” in Düsseldorf, having previously served for many years as head of the patent department at Askania-Werke in Berlin.

In 1959, the patent law firm moved from Düsseldorf to Velbert-Langenberg, where it remains headquartered today. At that time, Dipl.-Phys. Jürgen Weisse ^†, son of Ernst E. Weisse, joined the firm.

In 1972, Dipl.-Chem. Dr Rudolf Wolgast ^† joined the firm. From then on, the firm operated under the name “Weisse & Wolgast”.

In 1997, Dipl.-Phys. Jörg Weisse, son of Jürgen Weisse, joined the firm, representing the third generation of the Weisse family.

In 2006, Dipl.-Phys. Nicolas Moltmann joined the firm, further broadening its expertise.

In 2013, the Velbert-based firm Weisse & Wolgast merged with the Munich-based firm of Volker Willems, which had been established in 1997. Following the merger and the admission of Dipl.-Geophys. Volker Willems to the partnership, the firm changed its name and legal form to “Patentanwälte Weisse, Moltmann & Willems PartG”, with its registered office in Velbert-Langenberg.

In 2023, M.Sc. Philip Weisse, son of Jörg Weisse, joined the firm as the fourth generation of the Weisse family. The firm now operates as “Patentanwälte Weisse, Moltmann & Willems PartG mbB”, with its registered office in Velbert-Langenberg.
