Berlin remains a strong location for trademark activity. In 2025, a total of 6,391 trademark applications were recorded at national and European level by companies and private individuals based in Berlin. This represents 1,253 more applications than in 2024, an increase of around 24.4%.
After the decline between 2022 and 2024, filing activity has therefore picked up noticeably again. The 2025 figure is only slightly below the previous peak recorded in 2021.
Top 10 Applicants 2025
Berlin’s trademark landscape is broadly diversified. Even the most active applicants account for only a relatively small share of the overall volume. For the ranking, we consolidated obvious address and spelling variations of individual applicants.

| 2 | August Storck KG | 80 |

| 4 | Schilkin GmbH & Co. KG Berlin Spirituosenherstellung | 21 |
| 5 | Aristo Pharma GmbH | 19 |
| 5 | BUWOG Bauträger GmbH | 19 |
| 7 | HOLY Softdrinks GmbH | 18 |
| 8 | mobile.de GmbH | 15 |
| 8 | SKD SE | 15 |
| 8 | Anton Rosch GmbH | 15 |
Together, the ten most active applicants accounted for 356 trademark applications. Compared with the total number of applications from Berlin in 2025, this amounts to only around 5.6%. That is typical of Berlin: filing activity is spread across many companies, founders, and individuals from a wide range of industries.
What is particularly striking is the mix of established companies and younger, brand-driven business models. In addition to consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, and real estate, e-commerce, beverages, digital services, and personal brands are also strongly represented.
Development of Trademark Applications in Berlin from 2015 to 2025

A look at recent years shows that Berlin has consistently remained at a high level. In 2015, 4,910 trademark applications were recorded. The figures then rose steadily and reached their previous peak in 2021 with 6,765 applications.
Since then, the trend has been mixed: the number fell to 5,717 in 2022, 5,335 in 2023, and 5,138 in 2024. With 6,391 applications, Berlin recorded a strong increase again in 2025.
Compared with 2015, the current level is therefore around 30% higher. This points to continued strong trademark activity in the German capital.
What the Figures Mean
Berlin is not a location where only a few major names dominate the register. Rather, filing activity is driven by a large number of different players. From a trademark law perspective, this makes the city particularly interesting.
In a dynamic market environment, an early trademark strategy is especially important. Anyone filing a trademark should not only choose a suitable name, but also assess registrability and possible conflicts with earlier rights. Otherwise, avoidable costs and legal risks may arise.
